Joel Nava's 'Para Que' was filmed at a Texas dancehall.

Back when the major record labels backed Tejano music.
One of the cool things about this song is that it was released under the major record label, BMG/Arista Texas. You know, back when the major labels backed Tejano music. It was off of Joel's 1995 self-titled album. The album was a mix of Tejano and Country songs that was accepted in both markets. That is something you don't really see these days.
This was around the same time that Emilio was making that crossover push between Tejano and Country. 1995 was also the year that Emilio released his all-Country album "Life is Good" under the Capital Nashville record label. At the same time, Emilio was still releasing his Tejano album under the Capitol EMI Latin label.

Joel Nava and Emilio started the Tejano Country genre.
In my personal opinion, it was Emilio and Joel Nava that started and made a push for the Tejano Country crossover category. Joel Nava continues to perform with the Texas Border and some of his shows include Mr. David Valadez on the accordion, also from Port Lavaca.
